This is a name given to a string of about 40 monasteries in the vicinity of Sofia, a circle of sanctity shining like a nimbus around the city that bears the name of God’s Wisdom. The monasteries were founded at various times – from the 4th to the 20th century.

The building of the supreme legislative body of Bulgaria - the National Assembly - was built in the period between 1882 and 1927. The building was officially consecrated on November 25, 1884.

The building was built in 1873. In 1879, the building became the residence of Prince Batenberg.

The mineral springs are indispensable life-giving centre in the history of Sofia, already from the VI-V century BC. They are one of the symbols of the capital and are included in its coat of arms.

The construction of the library St.St. Cyril and Methodius started in 1942 on the design of architects D. Vasilyov and Iv. Tzolov. The library is an architectural and artistic monument of culture of national importance.

On May 25, 1925 began the construction of the new building of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, which now-a-days we know as the central building of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.

A decision to build a covered market for the sale of meat and dairy products, poultry, fish, vegetables and fruits in the city centre was taken already in the end of the XIX century. The design process began in 1907.
